High-Sec Incursions Too Rewarding

Alliance News - Tue, 01/17/2012 - 20:30

New Eden - A group of capsuleers, led by Krissada, are attempting to disrupt the "ISK farming" currently occurring at Sansha Incursion sites. They are planning to destroy Sansha motherships as soon as they arrive through their wormholes and in doing so hope to cut back the amount of ISK earned by capsuleers who attend the incursions simply to collect bounties on the lesser Sansha forces in the area.

Krissada is apparently aggrieved that "bears" are able to "farm" for ISK in high-sec Incursions with little risk as long as they do not destroy the Sansha mothership. This, to her, is a blatant misuse of CONCORD's reward system and she is focused on stopping what she believes is an "ISK faucet". Disgruntled with how Incursions are fought she revealed her belief that "Sansha forces appear to be infinite, as is the depth of CONCORD's wallet".

Krissada's plan is to destroy the Sansha motherships as soon as possible which will hopefully cause the immediate withdrawal of Sansha forces and prevent further bounties being collected by "Incursion Bears". She hopes to force those wanting to make ISK from Incursions into low-sec and thus ensuring when Sansha forces arrive in high-sec they are dealt with quickly by capsuleers who want to see victory rather than reward.

Giving firm backing to Krissada, CSM member Darius III seemed to agree that high-sec Incursions are no longer about defeating Sansha's Nation but more about what can be earned: "The sites pay too much with almost no risk."

HardinSalvor, an Incursion community leader, reflected on how things have changed due to the lure of ISK: "Once the influence dropped low enough for the mom to spawn, people would rush to kill it. Through some diplomacy, a status quo was created where we avoid killing the mom as long as possible."

Some questionable math by community leaders sees them believing that an incredible 621 billion ISK is paid out by CONCORD every week from Incursions. If the numbers are accurate, it may be no surprise that a prominent Fleet Commander from the BTL Incursion channel is alleged to have bribed Darius III with 500 million ISK to not destroy a mothership during an Incursion.

There is a lot of ISK to be made for those brave enough to fight against Sansha's Nation and with fleets now forming with the sole purpose of stopping that ISK being collected, as well as loyalists already attempting to aid Sansha forces, there may come a time soon that there are no capsuleers left to fight against Sansha's Nation as they will all be fighting each other.

Flight of a Thousand Rifters

Alliance News - Sun, 01/01/2012 - 18:43

Vlillirier, Placid - On the 17th of December, Marlona Sky undocked in a Moros dreadnought named Intigo with the intention of having it blown up.

Marlona, inspired by the event "Bring me the head of Kirith Kodachi", decided to throw an event with billions worth of prizes to be won by participants. The First Tier prizes, including a Vindicator battleship worth in excess of 1.1 billion ISK and a Proteus with five subsystems, were limited to capsuleers flying frigates or destroyers.

When interviewed after the conclusion of the event, Marlona had the following to say: "I really had no idea what kind of ships were waiting for me... I thought for sure it would be a tonne of battleships ready to melt my Moros fast, but instead I was greeted by a wonderful sight. A giant cloud of frigates and destroyers."

A final total of 153 capsuleers took part in the killing of the Moros, with five managing to get blows in on Marlona's capsule. Prizes were awarded using a complicated points system, with the top prize, the Vindicator battleship, going to Galactica789.

Galactica789 thought it had been a nice surprise to come in first and take the Vindicator, as he had initially thought he'd come in third. Points scored on three kills during the event, however, put Galactica789 far in the lead for the win.

Marlona plans a similar event for an unconfirmed date in the new year.

Loyalist of the Year Award Announced

Alliance News - Wed, 11/16/2011 - 18:41

Amarr Empire, New Eden - Each year, PIE Inc. sponsors awards aimed at recognising those who have taken extraordinary steps to further the Amarr Empire over the previous twelve months.

The first of the two awards is the "Amarrian Capsuleer of the Year". This award is limited to pilots of Amarrian, Khanid, or Ni-Kunni descent who have been recognised for having done the most for the Empire. The second award is the "Loyal Servant of the Year". This award recognises the pilot, of any race or descent, who has done the most to further the goals of the Empire.

The nomination process is fairly straightforward. People may make nominations for the appropriate awards as long as they are not nominating any current member of PIE Inc., a member of their current corporation, or themselves. In addition to this, current members of PIE Inc. are not permitted to make nominations.

Admiral Rodj Blake, of PIE Inc., stated how it works: "Although it is PIE who decides upon the winners, we do not nominate them. Therefore, for someone to win, they must have impressed not only PIE but the wider capsuleer community. As such their deed can be held up as an example of what it means to serve the Empire and serve as an inspiration to others who may wish to follow in their footsteps."

Nominations will close on the 3rd of December. At that time, PIE Inc. leadership will take all nominations, reduce them to a list of no more than 6 pilots for each award, and deliver these ballots to the PIE Inc. membership for voting. Admiral Blake said the plan is to announce the winners on the 17th of December.

"The Amarrian Capsuleer of the Year" will be awarded a Navy Issue Apocalypse, while the winner of the "Loyal Servant of the Year" will receive a Navy Issue Omen.

Anti-Sansha Fleets Baited by Pirate Gangs

Alliance News - Tue, 11/08/2011 - 07:06

Sahdil, Domain - 08.11.113 - High bounties placed by CONCORD on invading Sansha vessels are attracting pirate forces seeking to force engagements and loot the wrecks of defenders' expensive and well-appointed ships.

"BTL Pub" and "The Ditanian Fleet" (TDF) are two of the largest anti-Sansha communities operating in high security space, formed around channels that organize full fleets from lone pilots and small groups who want to be more potently involved. Phattecia, a BTL representative, stated that BTL's goal is to allow a "secure channel for shield fleets to rally from, this is our highest priority." TDF is similar, though focused on armour fleets. Their spokesman Carmelos53 said they "allow pilots from all corners... to socialize and fly in relative safety from griefers."

BTL has a banlist of over 1000 known pilots, corporations and alliances and employs moderators to bring a measure of order and security to their channel, while TDF maintains a public mailing list of blacklisted pilots. Such measures have only a limited effectiveness, however, in the face of numerous spies. Ammzi of BTL stressed that the onus is on all pilots to ensure their own safety by "taking corp history of other fleet members and their killboards" into account.

The Skunkworks [SKNK] are one corporation that has come to specialize in baiting the pilots fighting incursions into high security-space engagements. CEO Psychotic Monk said that the best part of his business is "taking joy in knocking the wind out of some smug incursion bears who have, until recently, thought they were perfectly safe." SKNK diplomat Slimy Worm went on to say "We target valuable ships that can't really defend themselves." Recent kills included a Rattlesnake battleship which was lured into a trap by a member of Skunkworks claiming to be under attack. When the Rattlesnake pilot remotely repaired the ship, a gang of Skunkworks-affiliated vessels quickly came down on the Rattlesnake and destroyed it.

Psychotic Monk described the efforts of the incursion-fighters to defend themselves against The Skunkworks and their ilk as "meagre," citing his corporation's killboard which now claims over 40 billion ISK worth in damage dealt in a week, with very few documented losses. Pilots associated with the TDF channel, however, have collected donations to hire mercenaries to deal with The Skunkworks. SKNK claims that their increased operations is a direct response to the war declaration that they have received. Slimy Worm said "We're defending ourselves from [the incursion community] but we don't really need any justification: might is right." It's alleged that The Skunkworks use multiple shell corporations to shield their members and assets - Psychotic Monk himself was flying under a alternate ticker himself at the time he was interviewed.

After a little over a year of engaging Sansha Kuvakei's forces, BTL representatives dismissed The Skunkworks and similar predators as able only to hurt those who don't yet grasp the high security-space Rules of Engagement enforced by CONCORD, while TDF's Carmelos53 stated that "The Skunkworks is just the flavour of the month."
